Terra 2.0 Reveals LUNA Airdrop and Launch Date

The Terra team has announced the launch date of the new chain and also when LUNA owners can expect their airdrop.

After the community voted to fork the Terra ecosystem without the algorithmic stablecoin, the team announced the launch date for the protocol and airdrop of LUNA.

Terra 2.0 will be launched on May 28

As reported yesterday by CryptoPotato, Terra 2.0 was decided and voted on by the majority of the community.

One of the main differences between the future protocol and its previous version is that the team will not create an algorithmic stablecoin to prove that the Terra ecosystem is “more than just a UST.”

In an official Twitter thread, the team shared more details, including the date of the airdrop, when the photos were taken, and when the new protocol will be launched.

Yesterday we said Terra 2.0 is coming. It’s coming tomorrow. The community has been working around the clock to coordinate the launch of the new chain. Barring any changes, we expect Terra to be active on May 28, 2022 at approximately 06:00 UTC.

The first block of the new chain will be generated “after a supermajority of concurrent and interconnected validators.” According to the thread, both the block explorer and Terra Station and the dApp feeder (Terra Observer) will be fully functional once the chain is active.

What about the aerial launch of LUNA?

Undoubtedly, one of the most talked about topics lately is airdrop for LUNA and UST holders as a means of compensation for losses incurred during this month’s fiasco.

According to a post on Medium, holders of LUNC (Luna Classic), USTC (UST Classic) and aUST – will receive LUNA airdrop on the new chain as soon as it becomes available.

As per the announcement:

The amount of LUNA you can receive is determined by the type of tokens held on the Terra Classic chain, the period of time you held those tokens (based on snapshots before and after the attack), and the amount of tokens held.
